City Council Approves PNH400 Maritime-themed Sculpture Garden in Bohenko Park

In a unanimous vote at their October 3 meeting, the City Council approved the PNH400 Legacy Project plan to place sculptures in the park adjacent to Market Street Extension. Thirty artists have submitted more than 40 ideas for the grassy park that is situated on the bank of the Piscataqua River, with views of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on one side and the USS Albacore & Submarine Memorial Park on the other.

The themes of the artwork will complement the informational signage explaining the maritime history of Portsmouth intended for the kiosk at the center of Bohenko Park. The PNH400 Legacy Team and Community Engagement Officer Susan Labrie are seeking sponsors for the sculpture garden. Contact susan@portsmouthnh400.org for more information.
